Main Hall (Hondo)
MAIN HALL
The main hall is the central building of Koukyouji, enshrining Amida Buddha as the principal image.
Rebuilt after the war, the interior is fully fitted with chairs and equipped with air conditioning and heating,
so elderly visitors and those with mobility difficulties can also worship with peace of mind.




Amida Buddha, the Principal Image
The main hall enshrines Amida Buddha, the principal image of Koukyouji. Amida Buddha is regarded in Jodo Shu as the most important Buddha, who guides all people equally to the Pure Land. Visitors are asked to first offer prayers to Amida Buddha when attending services or paying their respects.
The Hall's Structure
The main hall was rebuilt after the war, and its interior is fully fitted with chairs. It is also equipped with air conditioning and heating, allowing visitors to attend services and pay their respects comfortably throughout the year, in a calm and peaceful space.
Usage
The main hall is used for a variety of memorial services, including the temple's annual events, as well as funerals and memorial ceremonies. If you have any questions about visiting or using the hall, please feel free to contact us.
Please note that the main hall is normally kept locked. If you would like to pray inside the hall, please speak to a member of staff at the temple office.
