Garden
The garden in front of the main hall is a tranquil space where you can enjoy the beauty of each season.
Main Hall (Hondo)
The main hall, rebuilt after the war, enshrines Amida Buddha as the principal image. The interior is fully fitted with chairs and equipped with air conditioning and heating.
Yakushido Hall
The Yakushido Hall on the temple grounds is visited by those who pray for recovery from illness.
Yakushi Nyorai Omamori (Protective Charm)
An original acrylic omamori (protective charm), blessed by Yakushi Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha, is available at the Yakushido Hall. It offers blessings for good health and makes a lovely souvenir or gift.
Main Gate (Sanmon)
Step through the main gate to find a tranquil garden — a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city center.
A notice board is also located beside the gate.
Six Jizo Statues
Just inside the main gate stand the Six Jizo statues of Koukyouji, with a stone monument describing their history beside them.
Communal Pet Memorial
Beside the Six Jizo statues is a communal grave where beloved pets can also be memorialized and laid to rest.
Mizuko Kannon
The serene Mizuko Kannon statue watches over and guides the souls of unborn children to the Pure Land.
Temple Cemetery & Memorial for Unclaimed Graves
The temple cemetery is a peaceful place to remember the departed, and is home to the graves of Koukyouji's past head priests.
The memorial for unclaimed graves respectfully enshrines the remains of parishioners who died in the atomic bombing and have no surviving family.
The cemetery is a private area reserved for families of those interred here, and we kindly ask that general visitors refrain from entering. However, if you would like to visit, please speak to a member of staff at the temple office.
Parking
Parking is available at the rear (east side) of the grounds for visitors to the temple.
Rokuyaon (Annex)
Rokuyaon is an annex building used as a tea room and a space for gatherings.
